Security

Updating Software:

Sometimes you will see an invitation to update the software on your Baha’i Community Website by simply clicking a link. Please do not ever accept these invitations. Updating software can be a delicate time-consuming project. The software is updated from time to time by the administrator.

Comments on Posts:

When creating a post, please be sure that the “Allow Comments” checkbox is always unchecked. This checkbox is in the “Discussion” section in the lower area of the Post Editing page. This section may not be visible; in that case you do not have to worry about it. Both checkboxes in that section should be unchecked.

Experience has shown that enabling comments attracts spammers and unwanted advertising.  And managing comments from real people who want to discuss these subjects would be an arduous, time-consuming and usually problematic occupation.

Usernames and passwords:

The site has good protection against break-ins but please choose a password that is reasonably secure.  If you forget your password please use the “Lost your password” link.  This link is located on the login screen just below the box where you normally enter your username and password.

Contact information:

Generally it is best to never put any email address on any page of the website; this would be an open invitation to spammers. The original installation for your website comes with a “Contact us” page containing a form that visitors can use to contact you. But this is a secure form that doesn’t give away your email address; this protects you from spammers while providing a means for real visitors to contact you.
